Just a quick note to wish you all a happy Thanksgiving. For those hitting the stores early on Friday, be careful.---Tom

I celebrated BUY NOTHING DAY on the day after Thanksgiving. I've been in those crazy crowds before, and vowed never to do it again. One year, I witnessed someone stealing a coveted item from another person's cart. That, the violence, and the fact that we as a society are SOOOOOO manipulated by big business - I have really taken a good look at not buying stuff I really don't need.

A 34-year-old man working at a Wal-mart was actually trampled and killed by the mobs of people this year. That is so sad!

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!!

Happy Thanksgiving! but on a sadder note....
I can't believe the pain caused by impatient shoppers. I have never been nor do I do the Boxing Day Sales in Canada. No sale is worth trampling human beings.

Wow, thanks guys yes that has explained it to me.

What a creative way to have a big sale (yes I love the name).

We have the Boxing Day sale, but as this is after Xmas I feel it sort of defeats the purpose, plus by that time I am usually broke so I cant benefit from them. :(

Now Qadesh I think you have the right idea here, sending gifts. :)

Now since you guys have the early Xmas bargains....well I will be looking in the post. LOL

Thanks again, hope you all had a great day. xx

Happy THanksgiving to all!

Black Friday was completely ruined for me years ago. I worked in a mall when I graduated High School. I worked all the holidays, of course. So, each year on Black Friday, I was scheduled to work. One year, in the store right next to ours, a woman was knocked unconscious trying to get a barbie.

Since that year, I have never once waited in line for a sale or fought to get somewhere because of a sale. It's not worth it.

Hi Oz, The Friday after Thanksgiving is called Black Friday here in the states. (sounds like a horror movie doesn't it) The reason for this name is that a lot of stores run the whole year losing money (in the RED) but Black Friday is the first official shopping day of Christmas and many of the small retail chains start making their profit for the year. (in the black) Yes, Oz, we have a name for everything over here. I left out the part where all the stores open early after the holidays and have some of the best prices we will see.---Tom

Happy Thanksgiving all.

No Oz we don't give gifts on Thanksgiving. The day after is called Black Friday the start of Holiday shopping, where all the store's open way to early, have hugh sales to try and have good end of year sales numbers.
I hope that makes sense :)

Hey Oz,
The Friday after Thanksgiving is call black Friday, and it is the start of the rush for Christmas shopping. It's a mad house! In my family we don't give gifts, but as I have said before any gift would be welcomed and appreciated. lol So when can I expect the package? Take care and be well.
