I believe this would be a decision based on the couple. If both want children and they are both healthy and have discussed in great length ( cause there's no going back - child is your child for life ) Financial situation should also be considered as to whether someone staying home with the baby or going back to work and if there were other siblings - I would even discuss it with them as they are part of the family. I will happily mother kids with my partner and of course grandkids and then great grandkids ( should I include their pets in here ? my son and his girlfriend have a kitten - grandkitty ) less...
