Strangely I heard something on the radio about revenge ..... the suggestion there was to pee in the offenders steam iron.....!!!

No revenge is not sweet. It is very bitter and damaging. I am someone who can pretty much shake off slights from people. Especially people that I have not let into my inner circle and who I would not miss if I that person never crossed my path again. I find that when my trust has been betrayed, I cannot shake it off very easily. I guess it is because I allowed someone to get under my radar and I missed the clues that should have told me that this person is not anyone that I should trust. That makes me feel like they played me for stupid. And I don't like that feeling at all.

An incident happened recently in which my trust was betrayed and I swear that I tossed and turned for a few nights thinking about it. (And that is not me. I can fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow). All I could think about was how much I wanted to see bad come to this person. I knew that I couldn't get revenge on the person, but I hoped that I was around when that person "got theirs".

I finally snapped out of it when I realized that I have a lot of nerve to wish bad on anyone. I have done dirt myself. Perhaps not as bad as this person did to me, but perhaps something that someone felt that what I did to them was just as bad and deserving of revenge. It made me regret feeling this hatred and I did not feel very good about me. I pride myself on being non-judgemental and in having a lot of tolerance and I felt choosing to allow myself to get carried away with hateful thoughts was not something that I could be proud of.

I have forgiven her and myself and chalk it up to a lesson that I learned. No one got hurt--physically, that is, and the incident just confirmed my feelings about human nature. I just have to remember that have to be careful who I call a friend and to cherish those who truly are my friends. less...

What goes around comes around but it is very hard to wait to see it happen. Was brought up to leave well enough alone and the whole two wrongs don't make it right but I think there is a reason there are phone booths - so you can make anonymous calls and feel like you have exacted some sort of revenge.

I believe in Karma, too. I've seen it happen too many times not to believe. Which conveniently eliminates the need to waste time and energy on revenge, although sometimes those creative, vengeful fantasies have their place ...

I used to get upset and my Huggies in a wad and plot many evil and heinous ways to get revenge.But not now, I let it go.
I think Tsun Su said it best "If you wait by the river of life the bodies of your enemies will come floating by! " I take this as why Get your Huggies in a wad when some does you wrong. The person's Karma will collapse from the sheer weight of bad things they may have done to others. Beside pay back can be a beeach .Or what you sow ,you also shall reap tenfol  more...

I prefer the adage, "Revenge is a dish best served cold". I too think that what goes around, comes around, however I have yet to see it and wonder if I shall live long enough to see it. I do not consider myself a vengeful person, yet I will admit to holding a grudge.

Whilst the plotting of revenge in my head is fun, I refuse to actually spend any time or effort on some dirty scumbag who isn't worthy of my attention!

REVENGE = Waste of time and energy. People think I need to get revenge on my ex for what he did but who is it really hurting? I would spend alot of time being angry and I could be using that time for something positive....something to make ME happy. I don't want to waste my time on someone who is not worth wasting it on.

Well here goes my two cents :)

I totally agree with Wendy the idea of revenge is sweet , but the reality of things is that when you're hurt by someone your mind, heart and soul are damaged for a little while but life continues.
We are set in this world for just a small amount of time and if we are going to waste that time in being vengeful and vindictive that's just a whole lot less time to love and laugh!
I also believe in Karma and that what you do to others comes back to you, so why not  more...
