What is the difference between Love and Infatuation?

Is it possible for a person to genuinely "love" you if you have only been together for a short time?

True,

I was trying to think of what love really was and you put it down in such beautiful words.

After all this time, I am still trying to figure it all out.

Well really I would not have a clue, well not at the start. LOL

I think a person can love what they know and have seen of you, very early in getting to know you, but true long lasting love, also must encompass loving those things that they may not initially see.

There are many levels of love that people can have for one another, and they can be different for each person you meet.

Though I will question if you can be "in love" with someone if you have not had a chance to see the bad side of them as well as the good?

I think infatuation is intense and lasts only a short time...usually until the object of infatuation is obtained or something goes wrong in the relationship..whereas love lasts a long time through good times and bad.

I think that when all of those quirky personal habits start to drive you insane, they aren't cute anymore-- then the "infatuation" has worn off. By then, you'll know if you can put up with his snoring, his being rude with wait staff or his leaving hairs all over the bathroom. By then, you will know if you can see a life together, if you can stand to be in the same home with him for days on end and never get tired of him or angry at his constant presence.

If you can share all your dreams with him and he won't belittle them or tell you they aren't realistic-- he's the one. If you wake up every morning and reach for his warmth-- he's the one. If you want him to be just as happy and successful as you are, and you want to help him help you, he's the one.

If you can talk openly about what is important to you --life, health, religion, family, friends, goals, dreams, finances, past hurts, triumphs and career-- he's the one. Hold him, love him, never let go. Good luck--True
